Going for a walk, keeping properly hydrated and eating smaller portions more regularly have all been shown to help with bloating, according to researchers. The NHS UK also recommends chewing with your mouth closed to avoid swallowing air.
While bloating is often not a cause of worry, it is recommended to see your doctor if you have been feeling bloated for three weeks or more, have tried changing your diet but keep feeling bloated, have a swelling or lump in your tummy and/or find it difficult to move or do daily activities because you’re bloated. You should also consult your doctor if you have bloating along with being sick, diarrhea, constipation, weight loss or blood in your stool.
