All schools and colleges in Hyderabad will be closed for two days due to the Telangana Assembly elections. The Collector of Hyderabad, Anudeep Durishetty, has officially declared November 29 and 30, 2023, as public holidays. This decision stems from the need for a substantial number of teachers — approximately 80 per cent — to fulfil election duties on November 30.As a result, schools will be closed during this time. The Collector made the announcement via X (formerly Twitter). It reads, “Due to the Telangana Assembly Elections 2023, all educational institutions in Hyderabad district will be closed on November 29th and 30th, 2023. Regular activities will recommence on December 1st, 2023.”
Earlier, the state government had declared November 30 as a public holiday for all workers and employees in Telangana in light of the upcoming Assembly elections. Parents and guardians have been informed through school notices regarding the closure and its reason.
Additionally, Rajabhanu Chandraprakash, President of the State Gazetted Principals’ Association, has made a request to the Election Commission, asking for December 1 to be declared as a state holiday. Bhutham Yakamallu, the State President of the Telangana Model School Teachers Association (TMSTA), has also submitted a similar plea to the Election Commission. Meanwhile, preparations in Hyderabad are underway for polling on November 30, with vote counting scheduled for Sunday.

Among these seven days, five falls on Sundays, while the other two days will be taken off for Christmas on December 25 and Boxing Day on December 26.
